The organisation has been involved in many activities such as festivities around the annual international women's day on March 8th, a website (www.iftribune.com) has been operational for a couple of years, workshops and seminars have been held. Members are involved in publications on wide range of subjects related to women and gender issues. Cultural activities like exhibitions, book reading and music festivals have also been organised. These festivals are also used for fund raise purposes.

Hivos supports this organisation, because it comprises a group of women, who have for many years been active in the women's movement in Iran and who have played an important role in putting women's issues at the political agenda. The organisation represents a secular, but also an older part of the movement.

Since its inception in 1990 and the formal start in 2001 the organisation has been operating from different localities and have met at personal homes, in hired spaces and in the open air. The information they have produced and collected, including books, pamphlets, magazines, studies, research documents, is scattered over various houses and offices of individual members.

The organisation is in dire need of a space where the members can meet, where activities can be organised, where services can be offered and where documentation can be made accessible for interested women, students, activists and others. Given the character of activities and the sensitivity of issues that WCC addresses, it is difficult for the organisation to hire a permanent office. Therefore they have opted for buying its own premises, where a women's resource centre can be established.

From the centre a number of projects and activities are planned. They include seminars on specific topics related to women, workshops to empower women and lectures and conferences on women's issues. The centre will also have a library and resource centre, where books, magazines, videos and other materials will be stored and exhibit for the public. WCC aims to develop the resource centre as a centre of activities for the women's movement in Tehran and for the rest of Iran.

The organisers aim to attract about 70 to 100 women and men on a weekly basis. Seminars and workshops will be organised on topics such as violence against women, legal issues and contacts with Farsi speaking women activists in neighbouring countries.
